Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how the app Tag and Tell ("the app") handles your information. The app is developed and published by Stefan Elstner (see Imprint).
Short version
Tag and Tell does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. There is no user account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you add to the app stays on your device.
Data stored on your device
The app stores the following locally on your device, so that it can work at all:
- Your tags — their identifiers (for example an NFC chip's ID or a scanned object) and the names you give them.
- The media you add — pictures, videos and audio files you import, plus references to Apple Music tracks or YouTube links you choose.
- Your settings and playback positions.
This data is not sent to the developer or to any third party. It is removed when you delete the app. If you use iCloud device backups, this data may be included in your own backup, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Device permissions
The app asks for permission only when a feature needs it, and uses each permission solely for that feature:
- Camera — to recognise physical objects for playback. The camera image is processed live on your device and is never recorded, stored or transmitted.
- NFC — to read the identifier of an NFC tag you hold to your device.
- Bluetooth — to connect to external card readers you choose to use.
- Photo library — to let you pick pictures and videos to import. The app only accesses what you select.
- Apple Music / Media library — to let you pick music to play. Playback is handled by Apple's frameworks.
Third-party content
If you add a YouTube video to a timeline, that video is played through YouTube's embedded player and requires an internet connection. In that case YouTube (Google) receives the request and may set cookies and process data such as your IP address under its own terms. If you sign in to YouTube inside the app, that session is stored locally by the system web view. This is the only feature of the app that contacts a third-party service. See Google's privacy policy.
Apple Music playback is handled by Apple and is subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Children
The app is suitable for use by children. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no social features and no data collection. Content is added by you, the person who sets up the device.
Your rights
Because no personal data is collected or stored by the developer, there is no data for us to access, correct or delete. You remain in full control of the content on your device and can delete it at any time within the app or by removing the app. Under the GDPR you may still contact us with any question regarding this policy.
